Parenting coach Melissa Schulz helps moms understand the reason behind difficult behaviors and build practical plans designed for their individual child.
For many moms, parenting advice comes in the form of scripts: say this, do that, repeat the strategy and hope it works. Melissa Schulz takes a different approach. With 23 years of experience as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and a Master's in Counseling, she helps moms understand why a behavior is happening before deciding what to do about it.
Through Confidently Mommin', Schulz works with moms raising strong-willed, sensitive, and neurodiverse children, helping them move from repeated reactions to personalized strategies. Her approach is built around a five-step GUIDE process that looks beneath the behavior to identify what a child may be communicating or gaining from it, then turns that understanding into a practical plan.
“Every behavior is earning your child something. Once we figure out what it’s earning, we know exactly what to do about it,” Schulz explains.
From Parenting Advice to a Plan Built for One Child
Schulz's philosophy is rooted in a simple distinction: what works for one child may not work for another. Instead of asking moms to memorize another parenting script, she wants them to understand their child well enough to know how to respond when difficult moments happen.
“I don't want moms memorizing scripts. I want them to understand their child so well that they know what to do on the hard days,” she says.
That philosophy has shaped her work with families for more than two decades. Before founding Confidently Mommin', Schulz founded and ran her own ABA company for 12 years. Today, she brings that behavioral expertise into parenting coaching designed around the realities families face at home.
Client feedback reflects the practical nature of that support. One mom who used Schulz's Behavior Rx plan wrote, “I appreciate the super thorough response and great ideas.” The same client added, “I will be shouting your name from the hills for anyone needing parenting help!!”
Two New Ways for Moms to Get a Real Plan
Schulz has now introduced two new offers designed to make her personalized approach more accessible for moms who need help with a specific behavior or want hands-on support implementing a broader plan.
Behavior Rx is a $97 custom behavior plan created by Schulz for one specific challenge. A mom identifies the behavior she wants to address, such as bedtime battles, morning meltdowns, or conflict over screens, and answers a guided set of questions about her child. Schulz then develops a personalized plan explaining why the behavior is happening, what the child is getting from it, and exactly what the parent can do next.
The offer is designed for the mom who knows she needs an expert perspective but wants someone else to build the initial plan for her.

The 30-Day Fix, priced at $350 or four payments of $90, provides a more hands-on experience. Over 30 days, Schulz works with a small group of families to build a child's Behavior Breakthrough Plan step by step through the GUIDE process. Moms receive guided tools and private-message support while they put the plan into practice at home. Schulz limits each round to five families.
When Understanding the Behavior Changes the Outcome
One family's experience illustrates the type of shift Schulz's approach is designed to create. The family had spent more than a year dealing with two-hour bedtimes that sometimes ended near midnight. They had assumed the struggle was simply normal bedtime behavior.
Looking more closely at what was happening revealed another possibility: an overtired 4-year-old was using bedtime as her primary opportunity for one-on-one connection. By moving that connection time earlier, before the bedtime routine began, the family changed the pattern. One week later, the child was falling asleep by 9:25.
For Schulz, the example reinforces why understanding the function behind a behavior matters.
“Change is easier than we think, but it takes longer than we think. Our brains expect it to be hard and fast. It's the opposite,” she says.
A Growing Body of Recognition
Melissa Schulz, MS, BCBA, has been named “Best Parenting Coach in the United States for 2026” by Best of Best Review, recognizing her work helping mothers understand challenging behavior and create practical strategies tailored to the individual child. She was previously named “Best Parenting Coach in the United States for 2025” by the Evergreen Awards, marking her second consecutive year receiving recognition under this distinction.
She is also a #1 international bestselling author and contributing author of The Power of Connection, a 2026 book exploring connection in relationships, family, parenting, and communication.

Experience Behind the Method
Schulz's professional background combines behavioral analysis, counseling, parenting education, and direct experience with families. As a BCBA with a Master's in Counseling, she has spent more than two decades examining why children behave the way they do and helping parents determine what to do next.
Her current work focuses on parents of strong-willed, highly sensitive, and neurodiverse children. Confidently Mommin' describes its goal as helping parents respond to challenging behaviors calmly, confidently, and effectively while creating more connection and enjoyment within family life.
That experience is also reflected in the way Schulz talks about parenting. Rather than promising instant solutions, she emphasizes understanding, consistency, and realistic change.
The result is a model designed to give moms something more useful than another list of things to try: a reason for the behavior, a strategy tailored to their child, and a clearer starting point.
