Trinity Rodman joins rising and returning USWNT stars for two October matches against reigning world champion Spain.

When the U.S. Women’s National Team gathers in October, Trinity Rodman will arrive with both familiarity and momentum. On September 29, U.S. Soccer announced a 26 player training camp roster for two home matches against Spain, bringing together established international names, returning veterans, and three players receiving their first senior national team call ups. For Rodman and a new generation of American players, the matches offer a high profile opportunity to test themselves against the reigning Women’s World Cup champions.

Trinity Rodman Brings Experience And Momentum

Rodman enters the October camp as one of the more experienced attacking players on the roster. The Washington Spirit forward has earned 57 appearances for the United States, scoring 13 goals. Her international experience dates to her first senior national team call up in January 2022.

Her club season has also provided plenty of momentum. Through 26 starts for Washington in 2026, Rodman has recorded 11 goals and seven assists, both single season career highs. She leads the Spirit in both categories.

Rodman will not be the only Washington player joining the national team. Spirit defender Tara Rudd has also earned a place on the October roster. Rudd has made 12 appearances for the United States and recorded three assists.

The two have already connected at the international level. During a January match against Paraguay, Rudd assisted a Rodman goal, creating their first scoring connection for the senior national team.

New Faces Get Their Opportunity

Beyond familiar players such as Rodman, Rose Lavelle, Emily Fox, and Lindsey Heaps, the October roster offers a glimpse at the next wave of American talent.

Trinity Byars, Pietra Tordin, and Evelyn Shores received their first senior national team call ups. All three have previous experience within the United States youth national team system.

Their inclusion reflects the mix of experience and emerging talent in the 26 player group. The roster has an average age of 25, while Heaps and Lavelle are the only players older than 30.

The squad also features players from a wide range of professional environments. Twenty members currently play in the National Women’s Soccer League, while six compete for European clubs. In total, 19 professional clubs are represented.

For young players entering their first senior camp, training alongside athletes with Olympic and World Cup experience offers an important opportunity to adjust to the demands of international soccer.

Familiar Stars Return To The USWNT

The October camp also marks notable returns.

Defender Naomi Girma and midfielder Sam Coffey, both members of the United States team that won Olympic gold in 2024, return after missing the national team’s June trip to Brazil.

Forward Mallory Swanson is also back with the squad. She was included on the roster for the June matches but did not play. Her most recent USWNT appearance came in the 2024 Olympic gold medal match.

Head coach Emma Hayes said the camp would focus on rebuilding connections after a lengthy break while evaluating players who have not recently been part of the group.

That combination of established talent and new opportunities makes the Spain matches about more than the final score. They will give the coaching staff a chance to examine different combinations as the national team continues developing its roster.

Why The Matches Against Spain Matter

The United States will face Spain twice in four days. The first match is scheduled for October 10 at Audi Field in Washington, D.C. The teams will meet again on October 13 at Subaru Park in Chester, Pennsylvania.

Spain enters the series as the reigning Women’s World Cup champion, making the two matches a demanding test for an American squad blending veterans with less experienced players.

For Rodman, the games also provide an opportunity to bring her strong club form onto the international stage. Her 2026 national team performances have already included goals against Chile and Paraguay, along with assists against Japan and Brazil.

The roster also includes several other productive American forwards. Ashley Sanchez, Sophia Wilson, Byars, and Rodman are the four highest scoring American players in the NWSL this season, according to U.S. Soccer.

A Showcase For The Next Chapter Of Women’s Soccer

The October roster illustrates the depth now developing across American women’s soccer. Established Olympians remain central to the squad, but younger players are being given opportunities to train and compete beside them.

For fans of women’s sports, that balance makes the upcoming Spain matches especially worth following. Rodman and other familiar stars will have another chance to perform on the international stage, while players such as Byars, Tordin, and Shores could begin writing entirely new chapters in their careers.

As the USWNT prepares for two demanding matches against one of the world’s leading teams, October will offer a valuable look at how experience, emerging talent, and club success are coming together in the evolving American squad.
