Helping people uncover balance, boundaries, and self-discovery through holistic coaching rooted in real human experience.
It was during one of her quiet journaling sessions on the office floor, oversized cardigan wrapped around her, that Megan Boerner realized something profound. She had built her life and her work around one simple truth: growth is not always linear, and healing is rarely neat. What mattered most was showing up authentically, even in the messy moments, and helping others do the same. That is the heartbeat of Out Of The Woods Coaching & Holistics, LLC.
Building a Life of Wellness
Out Of The Woods Coaching is not a conventional practice. It draws its framework from the 8 Dimensions of Wellness, a model that recognizes health as a tapestry woven from emotional, physical, intellectual, occupational, social, spiritual, environmental, and financial strands. Boerner’s mission is to guide clients toward balance in every area, helping them realize they already possess the tools to create the life they dream of.
Her philosophy is rooted in lived experience. As she often says, “First and foremost, I am human. I make mistakes. I take accountability. Then I come back stronger.” That humility, paired with her professional background, shapes her ability to connect deeply with her clients.
From Military Service to Mental Health
Boerner’s path was anything but ordinary. Unsure of her direction as a teenager, she enlisted in the United States Air Force. Life later brought her through a divorce, followed by more than a decade in education, where she served as a paraprofessional and instructional assistant. At thirty-four, she made the bold decision to return to school.
During the early months of the pandemic, while much of the world slowed down, Boerner pushed forward. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies, focusing on Crisis Counseling, Family Advocacy, and Health Care Administration, followed by a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, both from Liberty University. While working in various roles in the mental health field for over five years, eventually she earned her provisional counseling licensure in Missouri.
But with every milestone came reflection. Boerner realized that the traditional therapy model no longer aligned with her vision of helping others. This turning point led her to launch Out Of The Woods Coaching, a place where she could bring together her training, her hard-earned life lessons, and her love for holistic living.
A Different Kind of Coaching
What sets Boerner apart is her refusal to adopt a “one-size-fits-all” approach. She believes clients are already the experts of their own lives. Her role is not to dictate answers but to help individuals uncover the wisdom they already carry.
She explains, “There is no tough love or soft love. Love is a frequency that we get to decide how we show up in every single moment of every single day.” This philosophy extends to boundaries and self-care, two pillars of her coaching. Boerner reminds her clients that “self care is also not participating in conversations that are damaging to your mental health” and adds with conviction, “You can absolutely block people in real life as well. It is called boundaries.”
These insights are not just lessons for her clients; they are reflections of her own journey. Boerner’s ability to blend personal vulnerability with professional expertise creates a rare authenticity that clients can feel the moment they walk through her door.
Living Authentically
Step into Boerner’s world and you are just as likely to find her in a band tee and leggings as you are in business attire. Her love for early 2000s emo and alt rock is part of her brand as much as her coaching philosophy. To her, authenticity is not optional; it is essential. “Life is too short to not be me, unapologetically,” she says.
That honesty resonates with people who are searching for balance, belonging, and a safe place to rediscover themselves. Boerner has created an environment where music, movies, food, and journaling are as much a part of healing as goal-setting and personal development strategies.
Seeing the Forest Through the Trees
The name Out Of The Woods Coaching is fitting. Boerner’s mission is not to lead clients with a heavy hand but to walk beside them, helping them see the forest through the trees. With every conversation and every breakthrough, she empowers people to stop outsourcing their worth and instead learn how to meet their own needs.
Her story proves that setbacks can become steppingstones, and that wholeness comes not from perfection but from authenticity, resilience, and love.
