Princess Anne may be a rule-following royal, but that doesn’t mean her daughter Zara Tindall is also a stickler for protocol. What’s a good example? On Friday, the granddaughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II flipped the script on traditional royal fashion with a bold style gift at Kate Middleton’s carol concert, Together at Christmas.
Arriving at Westminster Abbey with Princess Beatrice, who is pregnant with her second child, and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Tindall made a bold statement in a shiny velvet pantsuit in a festive burgundy hue. Veronica Beard’s separates included a double-breasted jacket and matching wide-leg pants that revealed similarly colored leather heels underneath.
Zara didn’t completely ignore royal protocol, layering a coordinating button-down shirt under the jacket and accessorizing with dazzling amethyst earrings. Beauty-wise, she wore her blonde hair in a bun at the nape of her neck and added berry-colored lips and metallic nail polish to her look.
Last month, Tindall revealed her holiday plans, offering a rare insight into how the royal family will spend Christmas.
According to a Hello! source, she revealed that she plans to celebrate with her family at Sandringham, noting that the entire royal family will wear black tie for the Christmas Eve dinner, which will be followed by an exchange of gifts. “We give each other presents on Christmas Eve,” Tindall said, adding a heartwarming trivia: “Even as an adult, we still wear stockings on Christmas Day.”
When asked if the late Queen Elizabeth and her husband Prince Philip also wear stockings, she replied: “Of course.”
