Like Duchess Kate and Meghan Markle, Zara Tindall has always been one of the most stylish members of the royal family. She’s occasionally been spotted wearing a Cinderella Princess gown, and isn’t shy about channeling her family’s Bridgerton love with sheer dresses inspired by the Featherington family. This time, Zara has taken inspiration directly from her family’s princess archives, highlighting one of Princess Diana’s boldest looks for her latest event.
Zara attended the 2024 Beauty Awards at Honorable Artillery Company in London on November 25th wearing a (not so) little black dress. The dress consisted of two parts. Zara’s just-above-the-knee black V-neck slip dress and cap-sleeved lace button-up dress, also black, featuring button and keyhole neck detailing. The lace dress hit her ankles perfectly, and she completed the look with black earrings, black high-heeled pumps, and a floral beaded clutch bag.
It was a special date night for the royal, who attended the awards ceremony with husband Mike Tindall. Mike wore a holiday-inspired red velvet and black blazer, matching Zara with a black button-down shirt, matching red velvet pants, and black shoes.
Zara is the daughter of Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips, niece of King Charles’ eldest son and 21st in line to the throne. Zara’s look is reminiscent of Princess Diana’s 1996 dress when she appeared at the Royal Albert Hall in February of that year. That night, Princess Diana was a patron of the British Lung Foundation and attended a gala performance of “La Bohème.”
For the event, Princess Diana wore a tiny LBD covered in spiral sequin detailing. The dress was sheer and had ornate details on the arms, upper chest, and shoulders. It also served as a black strapless minidress that hit above the ankle. To add a touch of understatement, Princess Diana wore black tights and accessorized with a string of pearls, black heels, and a black clutch bag.
