Compared to the excitement of fall fashion, the bulky layering and muted color palettes often associated with winter outfits may seem less exciting. When temperatures drop below freezing and the threat of snow and rain looms, it’s easy to take a backseat to looking cute. As a true summer girl who prefers prairie dresses to puffer coats, I’m particularly susceptible to winter fashion fatigue, so I turned to New York-based stylist Ashley Jebran for a little inspiration. Jebran busted this season’s biggest trends, and spoiler alert, they were anything but boring.
Winter 2024 trends approved by stylists
From motorcycle boots to chunky earrings, this winter’s style du jour is all about making vintage aesthetics new again. Plus, the fabrics and colors are more luxurious than ever. Think suede, animal prints, and rich, warm colors. Keep reading for Jebran’s tips for looking stylish all season long (there are also Amazon items you can buy to try out the trend, starting at $13).
Levi’s Faux Shearling Moto Jacket
According to Jebran, shearling jackets are one of this winter’s biggest outerwear trends thanks to their versatility. “Styling shearling coats is very easy,” she told Birdie, noting that she likes to pair them with miniskirts, tights, and sweaters. “If you’re looking for particular style, I recommend going for something a little bolder, combining shearlings with suede or leather.”
For example, this edgy Levi’s option is leather with a faux shearling lining and silver hardware. Or you can opt for a fully fuzzy sherpa jacket, like this discounted style in chocolate brown, one of Jebran’s favorite colors this season.

Super night long wool coat
What is another major jacket trend that Jebran has identified? Tailored long coats. “Clothes can be simple and minimal, but coats are an item that will make a statement throughout the season, so choose wisely,” he advised, especially recommending long overcoats that fall below the knees.
With 5-star reviews from nearly 6,000 shoppers, this wool coat on sale fits the bill. It also comes in rich burgundy shades, one of the other color trends Jebran mentioned. “Think of this as the big sister of your favorite blazer,” she said. If you want a shorter hem length, try this 52% off item.

Nine West Andone over-the-knee boots
“Two footwear trends this season are over-the-knee boots and moto-style boots,” Jebran told Birdie. “What I love about both of these trends is that you can mix and match your wardrobe and switch up your style with a minimalist touch for edginess or sexy and chic.” I love pairing it with an above-the-knee silhouette to create a statement look, but if you’re looking for something more classic, try these black Nine West and One boots.
Biker boots, on the other hand, started trending early this fall, and Jebran recommends juxtaposing their hardness with flowing pieces like bohemian dresses and maxi skirts. Decorated with buckles, these dream pair boots are reminiscent of the Miu Miu style worn by Emily Ratajkowski.

Jebran suggested oversized knitwear as a styling companion to both outerwear trends, so I found some chunky sweaters on Amazon to layer with my new jacket. After all, who wants to wear anything other than a cozy sweater when the cold weather sets in? Check out this cable knit crewneck or burgundy turtleneck.

Hessawell gold door knocker earrings
“My favorite accessory trend is statement earrings that go with any look and any occasion, whether you’re eating lunch with friends or dressing up for a night out,” Jebran explained. “The perfect way to style[the trend]would be with a messy high ponytail, a chic fit, and lots of mixed metal jewelry.” In other words, after years of tiny huggy hoops reigning supreme. , eye-catching earrings are literally back in a big way. This year’s trendiest earrings update 80s-inspired looks, including $14 doorknocker earrings and button-inspired styles.
Sac Huntley Leather Hobo Bag
This was definitely the fall of suede and leopard print. And according to Jebran, these trends aren’t going anywhere this winter. One of my personal favorite ways to wear suede is with a slouchy tote like Sak’s Huntley Leather Hobo Bags. However, the luxurious fabric looks beautiful on boots, jackets, and even trousers. Similarly, leopard print’s versatility makes it inherently neutral, but I love the idea of dressing up a minimalist outfit with Franco Sarto’s Mary Jane.
