The Ayurvedic Provides Whole-Person Care Through Ayurveda and Modern Science

The Ayurvedic, founded by Karine Tovmassian (NBC-HWC), is pioneering a holistic approach to health and wellness by blending ancient Ayurvedic wisdom with modern science. Offering a range of services, including meditation, Ayurveda, pranayama, yoga (coming summer 2025), and Chopra total well-being lifestyle coaching, The Ayurvedic is designed to help veterans, law enforcement, and others cultivate self-care routines that foster long-term health and balance. Everyone is welcome; it’s just that, as Karine puts it, “the toxic environment escapees are my favorite people. I was one once myself.”

With a background in counterterrorism and law enforcement, as well as being a Chopra-certified Meditation and Ayurveda Educator, Tovmassian brings a unique perspective to holistic wellness. Her personal journey, which included overcoming challenges after major back surgery, led her to explore alternative healing modalities that complement Western medicine. This experience has shaped her approach to wellness, focusing on the body’s innate intelligence and self-care as a foundation for healing.

“The Ayurvedic is about returning to a state of vibrancy, joy, and health through structured self-care,” said Tovmassian. “Many people have never been taught how to care for themselves properly. I never was taught.  My goal is to simplify that process while ensuring all our services are backed by science and peer-reviewed studies.”

The Ayurvedic provides both one-on-one and group sessions that can be conducted virtually or in person. The services are tailored to individuals, as well as corporate environments seeking to improve employee productivity, health, and stress management. Companies can benefit from customized resiliency classes designed to help employees manage workplace stress and develop long-term well-being strategies, reducing the overall cost of insurance, fewer sick days, better morale, increased company loyalty, and the ability to actually care for your employees.

A distinguishing aspect of The Ayurvedic is Tovmassian’s background in working with veterans, law enforcement, and first responders. Having spent over two decades supporting individuals in high-stress professions, she understands the necessity of practical self-care strategies that fit into demanding lifestyles. Her expertise extends to career coaching through Throat-Punch Resumes, assisting individuals in navigating career transitions and improving professional skills such as resume writing and interview preparation. “Clients would come in and say, ‘I hate my wife, I hate my life, write me a resume to get me a job overseas.’ I would do that, and by the time we were done, the divorce was off, and the client chosen to stay closer to home and get a local position. There was some miraculous transformation that was happening and that’s another reason I set up The Ayurvedic, Tovmassian said.

While many wellness programs focus solely on physical health, The Ayurvedic integrates emotional resilience and mental well-being into its coaching. Clients learn to identify and implement self-care rituals that fit their unique needs, avoiding burnout and stress-related health issues.

“Ayurveda is a 5,000-year-old system of self-care that has stood the test of time,” Tovmassian explains. “Today, more than ever, people are seeking alternatives to prescription-based health solutions. Ayurveda, combined with meditation and mindfulness, offers a scientifically supported path to sustainable well-being.”

Unlike traditional medical models that often emphasize reactive treatment and develop more side-effects than healing, The Ayurvedic encourages a proactive approach to health. By addressing daily routines, stress management, and nutritional healing, individuals can take control of their wellness in a way that aligns with both ancient wisdom and contemporary science, making it easy for anyone in 2025 to create an Ayurvedic lifestyle for themselves.

Tovmassian also emphasizes that her practice is rooted in evidence-based approaches. “Everything I teach is backed by science,” she notes. “There are numerous peer-reviewed studies demonstrating the benefits of meditation, Ayurveda, and structured self-care practices. My role is to guide clients through the process of integrating these practices into their daily lives in a way that feels natural and sustainable.”

Currently operating virtually and through on-site visits, The Ayurvedic is preparing to open a physical location in South Carolina later this year. In the meantime, individuals and corporate clients can access services remotely or schedule in-person sessions at their workplaces or homes. Modern medicine is catching on with what Health & Wellness Coaches can do to help patients manage health issues and establish healthy habits. Nationally certified Health & Wellness Coaches can start billing medical insurance with three billing codes. Health & Wellness Coaches are not doctors and are not therapists, but they competently fill the space between being a diagnosis and setting up a new appointment with a healthcare provider. Health & Wellness Coaches offer a soft space to land for those who are tired of dealing with managed healthcare and just want to get on with getting healthy and feeling good in their own bodies.
