While I’m not an expert on color analysis, Kate Hudson certainly evokes thoughts of spring. There’s just something about her blonde waves, isn’t there? Plus, the iconic yellow dress from “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” keeps coming to mind.
Anyway, it’s well-known that California girls excel in dressing for warm weather. So, Hudson’s latest manicure was surprising as it leaned heavily into a winter-inspired vibe. On February 25th, while attending press events in New York City, she showcased a French manicure adorned with deep Burgundy accents, perfect for the cold weather.

Kate Hudson’s Dramatic Burgundy French Manicure
The manicure began with neatly done cuticles in a soft pink tone, but instead of the expected white tip on her almond-shaped nails, she surprised us with a rich red wine hue—similar to what we often see on the red carpet during awards season. Think of recent trends, like Selena Gomez’s glossy Merlot nails.
Hudson’s stunning nails were likely crafted by nail artist Britney Boyce. Although she didn’t disclose all the details of this look, it’s not the first time Boyce has opted for a bold color. Last November, she provided a similar deep red shade for Megan Fox titled CND’s Bordeaux Baby.
Achieving the Look
If pastels are your usual go-to, Hudson’s deep red French manicure is a great alternative for those darker spring styles. If you’re familiar with creating French tips, just swap the traditional white tips for a rich red. Not sure how to do it yourself? No worries, as there are plenty of detailed guides available.
If you’re in search of that ideal red, we’ve got you covered. Chanel’s Le Vernis Longwear in Rouge Noir is a timeless classic, and for a perfect Bordeaux option, you can’t go wrong with Essie.
Don’t fret, spring is on the horizon, Kate! Here’s hoping the nail polish lasts until then.
