Two allies, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, are reportedly siding with their father as the dispute over King Charles and Prince Andrew’s residence at the Royal Lodge intensifies. According to a new report from Hello!, the sisters, who each have two children, “take turns” visiting Andrew on the weekends.
“The girls visit him most weekends with their grandchildren,” a source told the outlet. “They are spending a lot more time with their father now than they have in years. They are very close to him and seem to be quite protective of him.”
Despite being the younger brother of Charles III and eighth in line to the British throne, Andrew has not worked for the royal family since 2019 following a controversial interview with the BBC about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. Since then, Andrew has withdrawn from public life.
However, Andrew has recently been back in the spotlight after news surfaced in September that King Charles reportedly issued an ultimatum to his brother. Soon after, Charles also became financially insulated. That meant no personal security or £1 million a year in allowance. As it stands, Prince Andrew has publicly refused to leave the Royal Lodge.
“Certainly it looks like he’s just holding the fort, refusing to make repairs, refusing to leave,” royal expert Hugo Vickers told The Sun. “It would be a great help to him if he could find a respectable way to move somewhere else.”
Apart from their father issues, Beatrice and Eugenie have also noticed a new feud brewing between their cousins, Prince William and Prince Harry. At one point, the two women were expected to play some kind of peacemaking role between the cousins. But now their focus seems to have shifted to their father. His father’s BBC interview drama was recently turned into an Amazon series with the apt title Royal Scandal.
“Beatrice is always caught in the middle, playing mediator on her father’s behalf,” a source told Scotland’s Daily Express. “She doesn’t want to do that anymore and recognizes that it’s a pattern throughout her life. No one wants to be around him right now when he’s dealing with so much. Of course Beatrice I am heartbroken.”
