When you’re Dua Lipa, every day feels like a celebration. You are Dua Lipa! But vacationing as Dua Lipa with her new (allegedly) engagement ring must be something else entirely. In fact, it’s probably such a special occasion that you need a really good manicure to commemorate the occasion.
The real Dua Lipa proves this theory, including her amazing nail art. In an Instagram post on Jan. 3, the 29-year-old shared a snap from her New Year’s Eve celebration, showing off her freshly applied black polish manicure along the way.

A big change from the milky designs she sported at the end of December (a classic manicure to get engaged, just ask Selena Gomez), her new look is sophisticated and very shiny. Each of Ripa’s nails was filed into an almond shape and then painted with black lacquer, giving them a heavenly shine just like her favorites from last spring.

To get the same shiny look, rather than full metal or mirror, use a sweep of chrome powder before finishing with a glossy top coat. And while it’s unclear who the UK-based manicurist who did Ripa’s nails is, the queen of the glossy look, Zola Ganzolito, previously posted a surprisingly similar how-to video, and more You can get inspiration from.
Although this look has a dramatic flair, black is strictly a neutral. It worked especially well when paired with the singer’s black licorice hair. She continued to rock the hue throughout her New York look, wearing black leather pants and a matching blue and black feather bra and fur coat. Her eyes were studded with glitter shadow (Half Magic Glitter Pack, maybe you?) and her lips were covered in shimmery pink gloss.

“Welcoming the new year with dance!!! HELLO 2025!!!!,” she wrote on Instagram, along with lots of martini emojis. “It only took a few days to revive Bladiellull, but we’ll bid you farewell here.”
Dua, it may take me a few days to find the perfect chrome powder and jacket dupe, but I’ll be there too.
