I remember like it was yesterday when I received my first real luxury skincare product. When I was in college, a beauty blogger friend gave me a bottle of Dior Capture Total Le Serum. The baby pink bottle was probably one of the flashiest things I’ve ever owned and it made me feel like a real adult. Anti-aging serums didn’t mean much to my incredibly acne-prone 20-year-old skin, but I still valued them.
I’m not the only one who loves this product line. Capture Totale Le Serum and its creams are one of the brand’s most iconic products and have cemented it as a frontrunner in the skincare sector. This serum is much more than just a pretty bottle (though that and the brand’s signature light floral scent definitely enhance its appeal), it’s packed with science and innovation. The series made its shocking debut in 1983 and was the first product to use liposomes to deeply penetrate the skin. It is updated every few years to stay on the cutting edge of anti-aging topics. Dior Capture combats signs of aging, such as loss of skin firmness, elasticity and radiance. Like the previous version, Dior Capture targets the skin’s stem cells, but introduces an entirely new technology. “[Capture Total]is a step forward,” Virginie Coutureau, Dior’s director of science communications, told Birdy at a launch event this fall. “It’s a new era.”
This time, Dior scientists were inspired by the field of regenerative medicine, which uses oxygen transport to improve skin quality. In collaboration with the brand’s long-time collaborator CiRA (Center for iPS Cell Research and Applications) and the Dior Reverse Aging Board, a world-renowned group of scientists specializing in 12 markers of aging, the brand has developed an entirely new technology. A new Dior study found that cellular respiration declines with age starting from the age of 20, decreasing by 40% between the ages of 25 and 90, and that this has a direct impact on skin regeneration and appearance.

Refreshing the collection is joined by two products: Le Sérum, a luxurious anti-aging serum, and La Creme day cream. In addition to OX-C treatment technology, both the cream and serum contain Revitalizing Lily Extract, a new lily extract with proven activity against mother cells. Both products contain procollagen dipeptides, which help increase the quality and quantity of collagen fibers.
I miss the baby pink packaging of the original bottle, but the new silver packaging looks very chic and definitely feels luxurious and heavy (the weight of the cream’s glass bottle is actually lighter due to its eco-friendliness) ). I also like that the cream is refillable. As for the product itself, Le Serum has a thin texture that feels cooling as soon as you apply it to your skin. I’ve had pilling issues with older versions of the formula before, but this time I didn’t have this issue. La Crème has a gorgeous, silky texture that feels instantly hydrating and nourishing, but without being thick or heavy.
Wrinkles aren’t my top priority right now, but I love how this duo makes my skin look bouncier and more awake. However, if you are prone to acne like me, please proceed with caution as I think acne may have been the cause of your recent breakouts.
