Calla Press Publishing advances Christ-centered storytelling through biblically informed books that emphasize faith, hope, and moral clarity for families.
When Samantha Cabrera was a girl, she lingered in quiet places where books lived. Shelves became sanctuaries. Stories became companions. One afternoon in middle school, she read about a young girl who survived the Holocaust. The gravity of that story changed her. It revealed what words could do when truth and courage met the page. Not long after, on a Sunday morning, a pastor noticed her standing before a wall of books and placed a novel in her hands as a gift; Sunrise Song by Catherine Palmer lit a new fire. Faith and fiction could belong together. From that moment, the idea of a Christian publishing house became a long-term aspiration rather than a distant thought.
That calling would mature over time, shaped by faith, study, and resolve. Today, Cabrera serves as Founding Publisher of Calla Press Publishing, a Christian publishing house devoted to stories that are pure, lovely, and noble. The mission is clear and uncompromising: publish books that point hearts toward Christ and offer readers beauty without confusion.
A Vision Rooted in Faith and Craft
In ninth grade, Cabrera wrote a letter to her Nana describing a dream that felt audacious for a teenager; she would become a writer and one day start a Christian publishing house. That letter proved true 20 years later. She went on to study journalism and art at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, where faith informed creativity and discipline sharpened her voice. A masters degree in writing followed, along with professional work in journalism that honed her editorial judgment. Credentials were never the point. Obedience was.
Cabrera felt called to steward stories that honor God and serve readers who crave clarity and hope. In 2017, she took a decisive step and founded Calla Press, which would later grow into a traditional publishing house by 2023. The focus today is singular: publish books that reflect biblical truth and withstand cultural pressure.
“I have never been more passionate about publishing good and courageous Christian literature than I am now, especially after the year that 2025 was,” Cabrera said. “People, especially the younger generation, don’t need confusion, they need the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
Calla Press Publishing operates with a publishing philosophy shaped by Christian theology. The house focuses on themes such as the sanctity of life, faith-centered family structures, and spiritual accountability as presented in Scripture. Cabrera is transparent about these guiding principles, which inform the editorial direction of the catalog and help define the audience the publishing house serves.
Choosing Conviction in a Crowded Market
The modern book market, particularly in children’s literature, presents a wide range of perspectives and themes. Cabrera sees the challenge clearly and does not shy away from it. She believes Christian publishers must be both courageous and careful, willing to say no when necessary and bold enough to say yes to publishing books that are unapologetic in the Christian faith. “I have never been more focused on publishing Christian books than I am now,” Cabrera said. “There is a growing interest among families seeking literature that aligns with their faith and values, and I feel prepared to lead Calla Press Publishing into its next chapter.”
That resolve defines Calla Press Publishing. The house seeks to make biblically sound books accessible to families while maintaining literary excellence. Faith is not treated as a trend or a marketing angle. It is the foundation.
A Team Committed to Truth and Beauty
Behind the mission stands a thoughtful team. Sabrina Reagan serves as Marketing and Communications Director. She holds a masters degree in creative writing from Northumbria University and brings experience from publishing, education, and national media. As a mother, her commitment to Christian literature has only deepened. She understands the responsibility of shaping what families read and share.
Codi Bear coordinates logistics and brings a distinct creative sensibility as a children’s illustrator. Her work reflects her Christian faith through woodland imagery, earthy palettes, and a sense of innocence that resonates with young readers. She is currently co-writing a children’s series with her husband, focused on wholesome storytelling for families.
Together, this team ensures that Calla Press Publishing remains faithful to its mission while operating with professional excellence.
Measuring Success by Impact

Cabrera lives in Texas with her husband, an OB GYN, and their three children, Elias, Analia, and Belen. Motherhood shapes her leadership. Homeschooling, hospitality, and daily rhythms of family life ground her work. She speaks often about vocation as a calling that flows from faithfulness at home.
At Calla Press Publishing, success is measured less by commercial metrics and more by reader engagement and trust. The team focuses on producing books that resonate with families seeking faith-informed storytelling, with the goal of offering content that is both meaningful and thoughtfully crafted.
This approach sets the Christian publishing house apart. In an industry driven by trends, Calla Press Publishing is driven by truth. In a culture that often prizes novelty, it prizes faithfulness.
