Beyoncé is one proud mother in a rare new interview. While filming a behind-the-scenes video with Disney Studios for Blue Ivy Carter’s Mufasa movie, the singer gushed about her eldest daughter, who plays Kiara, Simba and Nala’s daughter.
“Today I came to record The Lion King,” Beyoncé, who will reprise her role as Nala in the live-action sequel, says while sitting next to Blue in a clip shared to TikTok. Blue also shared his excitement for his feature film debut.
“If I told my younger self that I was in a movie, I would never have believed it,” she said.
“Well, you’re right, girl. At one point in the video, Beyoncé gets emotional listening to her daughter’s voice acting in the recording studio. “It’s just amazing,” she said, wiping away tears. .
“Seeing Blue as Kiara and hearing her voice coming out of that character…it was really hard to concentrate and work after that,” she explained. Please wait a moment. You have to digest it. ‘I’m so proud of her. ”
Blue went on to describe his experience working on the film as “amazing.”
“I feel like everyone involved in this production has been very kind and supportive,” she said. “The director, Barry[Jenkins]is a really sweet guy and he shows me how to improve my lines. And he’s been very supportive of me and taught me in the kindest way possible. I’ll give it to you.”
“I’m really happy that girls who look like me around the world can watch this film and hear and see themselves in it,” she added.
Rumi Carter, one of Beyoncé’s younger twins, also makes a rare cameo in the clip. At one point, she was spotted hugging Beyoncé. “Hello, Mom,” Rumi says sweetly. “There are people who want to join,” Beyoncé replied with a laugh.
The singer and his 12-year-old boyfriend attended the premiere of Mufasa: The Lion King, which opens in theaters on December 20, at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles earlier this week. For their mother-daughter night out, the two Grammy winners wore gold dresses. Beyoncé wore a plunging Balmain dress with metallic circular detailing, while Blue teamed it with a custom Christian Siriano ballgown. The two looked like twins as they posed together for the flashing camera.
