Anne Hathaway's Gold Ball Gown Is 'princess Diary' Style

If you need further proof that Anne Hathaway was all-in on The Princess Diaries 3, look no further than her recent red carpet appearance in Shanghai, China. She attended the Bvlgari event last night, Wednesday, January 8, and looked absolutely dazzling in a strapless gold dress by Oscar de la Renta. Oh, and the cherry on top? Her yellow gold Bvlgari Serpenti necklace includes a vast array of gemstones, including 12 rubellite beads, 14 pear-shaped tanzanites, four pear-shaped rubellites, 41 step-cut diamonds, and pavé-set diamonds. She also added matching Bvlgari earrings and a $7,350 handbag, also made by the designer.

Of course, Hathaway’s accessories were just support for her truly stunning gold ball gown, which sparkled and sparkled under the camera lights. The strapless number featured a stiff, sculpted silhouette with an ankle-length A-line skirt that floated over Hathaway’s matching peep-toe pumps. She completed her look with a princess-worthy updo and bright pink-toned makeup.

A release date for “The Princess Diaries 3” has not been set, but Hathaway confirmed her return in October, when Disney announced that it would rebuild the series. So far, she is the only member of the original cast to comment on the sequel. Last April, Hathaway told V Magazine that “we’re in a good place” regarding the film’s progress. “That’s all I can say,” she continued. “There’s nothing to announce yet. But we’re in a good position.”

In addition to Hathaway, Adele Lim (of “Crazy Rich Asians” and “Joy Ride” fame) has been signed on to direct. Lim follows in the footsteps of original Princess Diaries director Garry Marshall, who passed away in 2016.

“As an avid fan of the original Princess Diaries, I am thrilled to be a part of bringing the third installment of this beloved series to life,” Lim said in a statement. “We look forward to celebrating this central figure of female power, joy, and leadership with audiences around the world.”
