It may have been a difficult year for the royal family (to say the least), but King Charles is keeping a good attitude about it all. Prince Charles remains of the mindset that “things could be much worse” after battling cancer for nearly a full year, and the monarch has certainly not lost his sense of humor throughout the process.
During a recent appearance, Prince Charles visited London’s Walthamstow borough and celebrated community unity with a reception in Fellowship Square. While speaking to local leaders, the king provided a health update with an interesting twist. When Sikh leader Harvinder Ratan asked the king about his health during his cancer journey, the reigning monarch responded with a cheerful, light-hearted, but slightly morbid joke. “I’m still alive,” he teased, according to the Mirror.
Prince Charles appears to be in a good mood as a palace source revealed that his treatment plan for 2025 is progressing in a “positive direction”.
Sky News initially reported that the king’s “treatment is progressing in the right direction and his treatment cycle will continue next year in a controlled manner.” People also confirmed the optimistic news.
Prince Charles wasn’t the only royal to suffer from health issues in 2024. Duchess Kate was also diagnosed with cancer earlier this year and underwent preventive chemotherapy. In September, the Princess of Wales said she had finished chemotherapy, but her journey was far from over. In recent months, Middleton has gradually increased her attendance at royal engagements. We also hosted our annual “Together at Christmas” carol service on December 6th. Prince Charles’ wife Queen Camilla has also faced her own illness, suffering a chest infection that was eventually diagnosed as pneumonia. Although the Queen is improving, she missed several events, including the Royal Variety Performance on November 22, due to a persistent cough.
