If your plans for your next summer vacation include exploring Italy, whether it’s the charm of Venice, the beauty of Ravello and the Amalfi Coast, or the rugged charm of Pantelleria, LaDoubleJ has your wardrobe covered. As JJ Martin puts it, it takes you from “espresso in the square to aperitif in the palace.”
As always, the ‘Raise the Vibrations’ pre-fall wardrobe offers a wide range of versatile pieces from day to night, made from light, airy fabrics and with relaxed, flattering silhouettes I did. Martin replaced rich ruffles with subtly colored macrame lace, introduced solid colors for layering, and added a masculine touch to a simple linen corduroy pajama set for a simpler, more youthful vibe. I directed it. Textures such as terry cloth, crochet, windowpane lace, embroidered denim, and jacquard matelasse contrasted with the imaginative play of patterns at LDJ’s energetic core. “They are the lifeblood of the brand,” Martin said. But this season, she seemed to embrace a mood of (gentle) simplification.
“When I feel like the world is overwhelmed with distractions, like geopolitical tensions, education, and growing inequality, my instinct is to turn inward and take over my space, both physically and energetically. I want it to be clean,” she explained. “Simplification becomes my tool: I clean out my closet, streamline my relationships, cut out what doesn’t need it, and focus on what feels pure and strong.”
While the outside world can certainly feel uncertain and daunting, don a vibrant LDJ sundress embellished with mosaic prints or a flowing party dress with emerald green Chantilly lace. Finding joy and connecting with your own happiness by doing should never be the cause. I feel guilty,” Martin said. We couldn’t agree more. “If I can provide people with an experience or product that uplifts their mood and boosts their energy, then my job is done. That’s all I want, Busta.”
